WAV is a container commonly used for uncompressed PCM audio. Unlike MP3, it does not reduce file size by discarding audio information through lossy compression. That makes a WAV result larger, but it also provides a straightforward source for editing, processing, mixing, and mastering. This page fixes the output to WAV so the purpose stays clear. The server asks the configured provider for WAV audio and returns the resulting bytes directly to your browser.
Repeated editing and re-encoding can compound quality loss when every stage starts from a compressed file. A WAV source gives editors more freedom to trim pauses, apply equalization, mix music, add effects, normalize loudness, or create several delivery formats later. It is especially useful when the generated narration is one asset inside a larger production. Keep a note of the voice and speed settings alongside the file so revisions can match the original performance.
Sample rate describes how frequently audio is measured each second. Different publishing workflows may request 44.1 kHz, 48 kHz, or another rate, but the MVP does not show a fake sample-rate selector. It returns the WAV format produced by the provider. Inspect the downloaded file in your audio editor and convert it only if the destination specification requires a different rate. This keeps the interface truthful while leaving professional conversion decisions to production tools.
Choose WAV for video post-production, course narration that will be mixed with music, game prototypes, broadcast preparation, detailed noise processing, audio restoration experiments, or a source archive. A WAV file is less convenient for direct web delivery because it is larger, so many teams keep WAV as the editable master and export MP3 or AAC for listeners. Review pronunciation before downloading because a larger file does not fix wording, pacing, or voice-selection issues.
Uncompressed audio can be several times larger than an MP3 of the same speech, so storage policy matters. Guests receive WAV as a private, no-store response. Signed-in generations can be retained for the configured history window and are streamed through an account-only endpoint. Production storage should use a matching Cloudflare R2 lifecycle rule so expired WAV files do not accumulate.
